Do You Crave Chocolate?

Did you know that chocolate can be good for you? Craving chocolate can be because your body needs it. However, if the chocolate has been processed improperly, it may taste like you expect it to, but some of the food value may be lost. Then you keep craving more chocolate because you did not get what you needed it for – why you craved it, and then it may to turn into an addiction.

Among other things, dark chocolate has the highest antioxidant I have ever seen charted: rated in the 13 thousand ORAC* units per 100 grams compared to 980 for Brussels sprouts, 2400 for blueberries, or 5770 (the highest I have seen besides chocolate) for prunes. However, when chocolate is ruined by refined sugar, wax, lard, alkali, trans fatty acids, hormone treated dairy or other cheap fillers the antioxidant quality may be lacking or non-existent. With ForeverGreen’s, 100% organic, Good for you, Guilt Free, Dross Free 24 Karat ChocolateTM, WOW, what a clean tasting chocolate!

There are actually many healing qualities in healthy chocolate; it helps blood platelets stick together less, therefore causing fewer blood clots, heart attacks, and strokes. Healthy chocolate promotes healthy blood flow and blood pressure, and has even been considered to improve elasticity in blood vessels, improve circulation, overall heart health, and reduce the risk of death from cardiovascular disease.

Also, did you know that there is actually no caffeine in healthy chocolate? Theobromine is the stimulant in healthy chocolate that closely resembles caffeine, even in its molecular structure. Fortunately it is much gentler than caffeine, which also increases emotional stress. In addition, theobromine stimulates serotonin levels as well as endorphin production, which fosters positive feelings and feelings of pleasure, making it a mild antidepressant.

And what is the most exciting news is that when you ‘satisfy’ your craving with a moderate amount of chocolate that is complete and processed cleanly; that moderate amount satisfies that craving! If you have a long standing “addiction”, then you may need to work on that part of it, but you won’t have the true need type of craving left unsatisfied to complicate the issue and thwart your efforts!

Here is one source of good clean tasting healthy chocolate:

Do You Crave Sugar and Sweet Snacks?

Do you know that sugar can be good for you? Cravings sugar can be because your body needs some sugar. However, if the sugar has been processed improperly, it may taste like you expect it to, but some or most of the food value may be lost. Then you keep craving it because you did not get what you needed it for – why you craved it, and then it may to turn into an addiction.

Sugar helps us digest food, it has enzymes for this purpose; however most of the sugar on the market has been processed so thoroughly that the enzyme is gone or dead. My personal opinion is that without that enzyme to digest the sugar properly, we get an imbalance in our system, which may cause things like diabetes. If the missing enzyme were not enough, often bleach is used in the processing, which is poisonous to us; to be very clear, the sugar that we are most familiar with: white sugar is very bad for our health. I usually find good sugar in Asian supermarkets, and I have also found some in health stores. The best is in blocks, but of course sometimes we need it to be more granulated, and that is available as well.

I had a serious longstanding craving for peppermint patties before I learned this. I could easily eat a whole bag of peppermint patties, especially if I was upset, or lonely. Then I found out how much the right amount of good sugar can help digestion, and also peppermint is good for digestion, which is why mints are often offered at the end of a meal. Of course it only works if you have a good clean peppermint. You could chew peppermint leaves, or have peppermint tea, or use peppermint essential oil. I found that if I put a drop of peppermint essential oil on a piece of sugar that I cut from a bar of natural sugar from the Asian market, I only need a little and I am satisfied, my digestion is improved, and I feel much better! I could even dip it in good healthy chocolate – yumm! For more information, see my article on chocolate.

Do You Crave Salty Snacks?

Do you know that salt, within reason, is not only good for you, but essential? Craving salt can be because your body needs salt and maybe minerals that are with salt. However, if the salt has been processed improperly, it may taste like you expect it to, but much of the food value may be lost. Then you keep craving more salt because you did not get what you needed it for – why you craved it, and then it may to turn into an addiction.

There is a magnetic relationship between salt and minerals, so one of the benefits of eating salt is the minerals you get. The problem is that most salt in the stores, restaurants, etc. has had the minerals taken out, so they can sell them separately and make more money, or they created the salt in a lab by combining sodium and chloride. This is one reason most salt is pretty cheap and a good sea salt or other complete salt costs more: you are getting much more that plain salt (which doesn’t really happen in nature). This cheap salt goes through your body leaching minerals out of your body, because of the magnetic relationship; and since our bodies are made of minerals and water, a lack of minerals can only mean deterioration.

Salt, or sodium, is very important for our immune support and also for our brain function. If you have a cut or a wound that is healing slowly, a likely cause is that your body is deficient of salt or sodium.

Another problem with many common salts is that some of them contain dirt and calcium silicates as an anti-caking measure. It is believed that this dross can be a hardship on our hearts. On top of that some have used bleach to make the dirt not show, rather than removing the dirt.

The answer? Only use good complete clean salt; that cheap salt can be for not slipping on the sidewalk or some people use it on the stove to keep food that overflows out of pans from sticking, but it should not be considered real food because it has been altered. I have found a sea salt that I love; it is called SmartSaltz and not only does it have the minerals it needs, since they did not remove the minerals, they found a way to remove the dirt, and also to make it into fine flowing crystals. It does not taste as brackish if you get a little too much; it is the cleanest tasting salt I have ever tasted. Many scientists believe that these impurities/dross can potentially run interference with heart health. You can even see it if you dissolve both kinds of salt in separate jars of water. You can see a video of this and try it by going to the following website:
